Yamaha GT-2000 Turntable Social Group

I’ve been up and running for two days now and have also won a 407/23 to be delivered next week hopefully. What a joy it is. I would also like a set of these isolators

Holy moly, two drool worthy GT2000’s in two days. Absolutely fantastic job brunomarcs. Love it. How does it sound?

This thing is great, I wanted to weigh it naked and compare with the stock unit but never did. It’ll take two men to pick it up and weigh now! I don’t know how I’m gonna carry it up to the house, it has to be close to 75 lbs but I’m bad at guessing weights, its like picking up a bundle of shingles.

"Welcome to Thunder-Plinth"

Last week enjoying my GT-2000 a lot this weekend i have an listening session at home with some audiophile friends. The theme now is my personal Top 40 of music of which 30 will be played from vinyl. It was a pleasure going through my collection again with this marvellous turntable. I was in the market of selling my AT-33PTG II cartridge but i am in no hurry of selling it. As it sounds very good.

The Kenwood KD-990 will be picked up this weekend.

PB, what headshell are you using with your GT & 33PTG II? Is it wood or some sort of composite?

Can’t wait to hear what your friends think of it.

I had my listening session last saturday it was bloody hot but that did not spoil the fun. Everyone was massively impressed by the GT2000 apperance. Also sounding very fluid and with attack.

As the cartridge is not 100% dialled in to the GT2000 i will ask a specialist to do this so that i know for sure i get maximum performance.

What should be the next option to use on the GT2000

An external power supply. I can get one which is build on request based on original specs but on 230 volt.

Or should i go for these

Sound Isolation Spikes Maglev feet HIFI audio

Unfortunately I haven't been able to use a YOP-1 so cannot make the comparison between the two.

I have however just recently installed some simple low cost isolation measures to see what all the hype is about and can confirm that there are real benefits to be had with even the most simple isolation. My advice would be to order the isolation feet and then get the YOP-1. Each will offer incremental and complimentary improvements.

Also do not overlook room treatments. For me this was by far the biggest bang for the buck audio investment I have ever made.

Ateal’s GT doesn’t work for some reason using his yop 1 and therefore traded it to me. Did you open it up and make sure the wire was connected? I’m sure you confirmed that. I wonder if on my GT which plays beautifully, I can stop the platter without much force, and yet high torque is mentioned frequently with the GT?

Thanks for your reply. Room treatment is an absolute must have. I have an acoustic treated ceiling island which works great without disrupting the room.

I actually just called Yamaha parts USA and they have no parts available for the GT-5000 tables. Those feet would be perfect for a 2000. Guess I'll try emailing Europe and/or call back in a few months.

I bought these gaia’s 2, they look kinda small but hold 120lbs. There well made.
