Even after all this time, her rendition of "snow" is jaw-dropping.

To me,this was the best album they ever released.The last one before Mick Ralphs left to join Bad Company.Mick Ronson,who was with Bowie during the Spiders From Mars period,was also a key member."All the Way From Memphis"is one killer track.And Ian Hunter did his best writing for this album,IMHO.

No! I don't think so. Honestly I have tried to listen to her thinking I must be missing something ? But no I don't think I am? Rock&Roll Animal is more my style.A true classic.

I love both Joni and Rock N Roll Animal.

Darkness On The Edge Of Town is Bruce's best.

Agree on all Joni Mitchell and John Barleycorn. Also..
"Tubular Bells", Mike Oldfield.
"Past,Present and Future", Al Stewart.
"Motherlode" Loggins and Messina.
"Hummingbird" Seals and Croft.
"The Child is the Father of the Man" Blood,Sweat and Tears.

I listened to a radio interview once where Loggins and Messina both said that Mother Lode was by their opinions their best album. I love it.

Pavlovs dog! The album with the same name is truly underrated,prog rock at its best. Then there is the album Cold Fact by Rodriguez that speaks for itself.

I just bought an ABC promo pressing of Pampered Menial. A wonderful album.

This is one of my favorite Rock albums from the group called Automatic Man.


Their sound on this album is Jimi Hendrix's Band Of Gypsys + David Bowie + Yes.

Highly recommended.

That's quite a recommendation.

Frank Zappa's "Sleep Dirt" and "Studio Tan" are never ranked as his best records but IMHO those two are some of the best records ever... just listen to:

Another underrated one: Beastie Boys' "Check Your Head" (1992). A supreme marriage of hip-hop, alternative rock, and good sense of humor.

MOST UNDERRATED of all time, for me, would be Magma's "Mekhanik Destruktiw Kommandoh" (MDK) which some days i feel it's the best thing ever commited to tape in the story of modern tape recording. Truly at the level of the Greats like Beethoven/Stravinsky/Orff etc.

I'll keep my eye out for that one.

Rod Stewart- Every Picture Tells A Story. People forget just how good this guy really was.

The Hounds- Unleash The Hounds. One of my favorite albums evahhhhh! John Hunter later went on to have a huge hit with "Tragedy". Great song, cheesey video.

The Fabulous Poodles- Mirror Star. Great version of "Chicago Boxcar" and of course the title track.

Rough Mix and Every Picture Tells A Story are both classics.

Hmmm, I'll have to get RM-'Stranded' out and give another listen, haven't heard it in decades. Bought a pre-owned Fisher 3 piece in the early 1970s that had it played as the demo and I agreed to buy it if the record came with it as I was infatuated with 'Amazona'.

I reckon that it's the best thing that Roxy or Ferry ever did.

Tommy Bolin-Private Eyes(1976)

Not sure if he was mentioned yet, but this guy was an amazing guitarist who replaced Joe Walsh in the James Gang and Richie Blackmore in Deep Purple. He died shortly after making Private Eyes. The wide range of material on Private Eyes is mind boggling-ballads, hard rock, spanish guitar, jazz, horns..."Post Toastee". One of my favorite albums of all time. Teaser(1975) is no slouch either.

So this is a best & well known classic rock albums of 60's & 70's thread? Well pretty much turned into it. No problem though, informative stuff.

I was going to mention Big Star for starters, but there you have it already in one of the first posts. #1 Record and Radio City - such brilliant albums, such criminally underrated band.

The Kinks Village Green Preservation Society is another pick of mine. Sold so poorly at the time of release, and definitely one of the hidden gems of sixties. Finally, nowadays it has beginning to earn the praise it deserves.

Oh and another Kinks album, the follow up Arthur (Or the Decline and Fall of the British Empire) is yet another magical album. Must check and own vinyls both these! Both concept albums, that imho are better than The Who's Tommy for example.
