Just Made an agreement with The seller for 850usd. IT Will then go to a guitarbuilder who will put new veneer on it. The question is what Colour veneer shall i choose?

The veneer together with rebuilding will cost me around 450usd.

Personally I would go for light maple.

22 grams effective mass is low mass? I'm pretty sure you don't want to use a high compliance cart.

Specs wise the Denon DL103 is probably ideally suited to the YA-39 arm and it's definitely not high compliance.

Given that your KD-990 is an excellent deck, we'll look forward to yor assessment of the GT 2000.

I will definetely do that. I am very curious what the Yamaha will bring more over the Kenwood KD-990. If it does not bring any better performance i can sell the Yamaha for an good price when it is in top condition again and earn money.

But my feeling is that the Kenny will have to go

I was the high bidder on a broken GT, looks like just the tone arm assembly is broke. Will I have made a mistake assuming the rest of the table is good? Really looking forward to building a new plinth or at the very least re- veneering what’s there!

Turntable was tested at the buyers system and worked also the not available speedlight indicator works it is only from the buyers other GT2000. The veneer must be redone bec not in good condition.

I won it for 850.00 For several hundred more another one sold in way better condition after this one ended. An X model sold for over 5,100 I didn’t understand that, being it was without any accessories! This is on buyee Japan of course, hard for me to deal with these folks.

I think you did fine on the purchase price. You may be in a good position for an arm upgrade. The folks in this group are well versed and will be able to offer you good advice.

I envy you and poorbeek as I would love to replinth or re veneer my GT and install a 12” tonearm but unfortunately I have too many other higher priorities right now so can’t..

But if I was doing that I would seriously consider a reed tonearm or an Ortofon 309 like the one right now on Audiogon (no affiliation).

I would also make the plinth the same size as the 2000x.

Is the GT-2000 you're buying missing the speed indicator?

Wow this one you got there have the very special rare YSA-2 attached to it! Even if that armbase/holder/adjustment screw is messed up I assume there is still alot of high value left in that arm.
