What happens when theres no WAF

In the land of no WAF a man can be a man, he can have his audio the way he likes it, he can have no input from a roommate who demands equal time. It could be a lonely existance (and sexual starvation could be a real issue), but to me the advantages outweigh the WAF. I can still date, I can decide where the speakers go, hell, I could set up gear everywhere for that matter. Wherever there's an outlet or an extension, that is!

In the end, I think this thread ends up being more about how important aesthetics are to the posters. I'm married now, but even when I was single I liked a clean look, and I still do.

Obviously this matter more to some than to others...

i like when things look neat and tidy..
i dont think a huge tower of speakers looks better than a smaller speaker that resembles furnature.
but i think the sound quality comes first.
if your one pair of speakers doesent give you the sound you want. and adding a 2nd pair does.. i think dispite what it looks like you should still use the 2nd pair with it.

but having a spouce/roommate who disagrees and is limiting your sound quality is a problem.

i dont personally think you need more than 3 systems per home. but thats my opinion..
i think a man needs his listening chamber (mancave)
a garage/work system
and possibly another system depending on circumstances, such as a outdoor system or a system for the bedroom or both..
but i think turning each room into a mancave is crazy.

yeah, makes me appreciate mine too. Altho, in all honesty, we each have our own "caves" so mystuff is in my cave and her stuff is in hers. Altho my "stuff" is just Marantz 2230, dbx 2bx, SOny turntable, Sony cassette deck and pair of B&W 601 speakers. SO not all that much stuff to make clutter. Still, produces jazz and classical which I enjoy which is what this thing is all about I guess

I think WAF is a HUGELY MISUSED TERM.

Misused and misunderstood.

Works fine if you're in a happy/positive relationship, you help each other build a life. Doesn't work so fine for someone with Narcissistic tendencies or OCD. Upsets the balance. btw, in a balanced relationship, there is a HAF ((Husband Acceptance Factor) also.

My wife and I are very happy. I have my personal space, my wife has hers and there is a third space we call ours. We consult on "our" changes. One of "our" spaces was a guest bedroom that was going unused 99% of the year. About 3 yrs ago we talked about adding a Vintage system in there. I got the equipment I wanted and she found a nice piece of furniture to put it in.

This is what we ended up with and "we" both really like it.

Hang that flat screen on the wall above where it is now, snake all the wires inside the wall down behind the cabinet, and then move that wonderful scott unit to where the TV is sitting now, that is if you want my opinion. Really like the Scott units, and those Altecs, they just seem to go so well together.

The bass is less boomy, but otherwise I did it to clear floor space.

You can see the hammock chairs tied up, they are what I have for furniture, I really like having a large space to 'use'.

My next addition will be a large beanbag, for 'group' encounters

Thanks. We considered hanging the flat screen but she's good with it now and I don't care so much....but now that you mentioned it.....I do like the idea of then being able to put the Scott(s) front and center. Also, we bought a 40" TV because it was hardly used in that room. Now that it gets more use, I can see a 50" or ???, then it will definitely be hung.

I really like the Scotts a lot and can see them being the bullseye in the room.
