Hey...I really lucked out, guys. While building our den/music room, right before the final task (getting the carpets installed), I happened on to a great deal to get our Klipsch Corner Horns. I had no choice but to stack them in one end of the room while waiting on the carpet. Wife was building up a head of steam over those 'huge monsters' I was going to set up.:sigh:
After room is finished and the 'Horns are in their corners....I noticed she had calmed down quite a bit. Sometime later, I took them to play at a wedding reception.
After bringing them back, my wife was standing there watching me hook everything back up and said: "Sure good to see them back. Room just does not look right without them"!!! How's that for a WAF?

Amateurs; My local used audio dealer has no waf and actually has stored units in his oven. Kitchen cabinets make great places for him to store various units. Kitchen table always has some piece of tube gear or rtr apart and being restored. Small living room has about a dozen or so pair of speakers stacked to the ceiling along with 3 floor to ceiling racks of gear. 2 entire walls in the bedroom are nothing but service manuals and vintage audio magazines. Instead of pictures hanging from the walls there's various vintage drivers attached to the walls. No worries about waf here. I love visting this place as I know there's no way I could ever get away with something even close to it.

I'm divorced and this is what I get:
I have a friend like that, I guess he'd be called a "flipper" around here but it really is his only source of income, and he lives in a small apartment and there is gear everywhere. I mean everywhere. He'll mention something and I'll have to say "where on Earth do you have L-100s in here?" because they're buried behind a stack of gear and 12 more speakers.

In my single days before Mrs. 70SG and were married, I wanted to strike a compromise between all-out audio anarchy and neatness, since the stereo gear was in my "Great Room". So this was what it looked like back then.
The television was behind the large doors, and the turntable, CD player, integrated amplifier, tuner and cassette deck were behind the glass doors. CDs and tapes were in the drawers and other accessories were in the lower compartment. You will notice the power amplifier, equalizer, dbx and digital clock on top.
There's also a stack of JBLs in each corner on a stand.
When Mrs. 70SG and I married, the compromise was that all equipment had to fit in the cabinet and speakers were reduced to one pair only.

Sounds just like my friend. I had to look hard to find his altec valencias cause they were so well hidden behind another pile of speakers.
It's not so much the gear but the media that's threatening to overwhelm the LR. Other than the HT setup w/ a TT on top...the LR's dominated by a 4'Wx7'H rack full of vinyl...with more stacked up in front & more stacked to the side. More vinyl in a smaller rack upstairs. Oh...and the CDs...a 3'x4' rack stuffed full...one of those Sharper Image rotating belt thingys...full...every space in the HT rack...full...another rotating rack on top of the sub...full. Due to the glacial progress of my home renovation project...the only vintage in the house is an SX-424 & a pair of Minimus 7s in the bedroom...the rest is shelved & stored waiting to magically apppear when the LR gets new drywall & carpeting. There's a good-sized closet right off the LR that'll hold a couple of rolling racks full & several pairs of speakers.
The biggest problem will be boxing up all the vinyl & getting that humongus rack out when it's the LR's turn for rip out & re-do.

johnvf - nice room, looks great. I especially like that the speakers look just about equidistant to the seating position - nice triangle. That is where I get in trouble trying to get my gear to fit in with the wife's idea of decor.....one of these days I am going to get off my lazy butt and get my audio room done.
