That's correct, the lift arm of the Little Fwend must be manually reset which involves pushing the lift arm down and is a very simple procedure. If not reset the lift arm will act as a tonearm stop. By the way, I bought the Little Fwend to use with a Thomas Schick tonearm.
The YAL-1 doesn't need to be reset.

Very Good info on the subject of lifts. Any exp with the tru-lift manufacture? different height platforms included and either a brass or ss finish. Looks to be a quality product!

I was looking to mount an arm board outside of the plinth but everything I read and see for that matter has it down even! Would you cut up your GT plinth for this?

I was watching on YouTube a video on the GT-2000 see link
it seems the owner of this turntable has used an aftermarket tonearm & mounting plate. Anyone have any thoughts on suitable aftermarket tonearms and mounting plates/ brackets for the GT-2000? I ask because I am concerned if (God forbid) something happened to my tonearm I would not have a backup.

I don’t think that arm is much of an upgrade, if any, from the stock arm. Most everyone here from what I can tell keeps there ya-39 which suggests to me it’s very nice. There is a thread on tonearm upgrade for the GT but doesn’t really go anywhere, as in not a lot of folks worry with it for one reason or another. Don’t want to chop up your plinth and ruin its value but I’m gonna cut in to mine.

Brunomarca thanks for your comment, however I didn’t suggest the tonearm in the video was an upgrade, my question was, thoughts suggestions on suitable aftermarket one. The YA-39 is a decent tonearm, however they are not common second hand. I did not mention ‘chopping up’ my plinth either. I believe there maybe some aftermarket tonearm designs where the cables run out the back of the tonearm similar to YA-39.

As I understand it the saec 407/GT is the only direct fit arm created for our tables! Then there are a few brackets made in Japan that allow the exchange and use of a few other arms, the Japanese have used these and documented there effectiveness but unfortunately we don’t speak Japanese. I think for a neat install I’ll route out a space for an armboard to use my saec arms.

Yeah the SAEC-407/GT is almost impossible to find it’s been on my Hifido request list for the last 5 years. The odd occasion I see one on hifido - it’s always consigned. That was why I’m asking, if there are other aftermarket tonearms. I think there may be some other tonearms possibly Kuzma that may be set up similar to the YA-39. I’m hoping someone might have an idea here. Mark B mentioned he had a Thomas Schick tonearm, Mark I’m very keen to know what your thoughts are on mounting the TS on your GT-2000.
The Thomas Schick tonearm hasn't been mounted yet. I know it will fit on the GT-2000 plinth, though the dustcover may need to be removed while in use. I've measured and the dustcover will be able to close when the 'arm is in the resting position.
The plan is to fabricate a mounting board for the Schick that's large enough to cover the cutout for the YA-39. A friend is going to do the work but he's been busy renovating a house he recently bought. So work on the GT-2000 will have to wait.

So I received my second GT today and wouldn’t you know it’s busted up. It just goes in one ear and out the other with them, either way my CC company is gonna dispute the charges, maybe I’ll get the table for free unless they come pick it up.

Sorry to see such a great turntable damaged by the postal system - was this a private purchase or did you buy from buyee or yahoo Japan auctions? Reason I ask is my experience with buyee is good if the product is new and Yahoo Japan auctions I purchased a Yamaha YSA-2 tonearm which arrived broken . The packaging was terrible- I did receive a full refund.

It’s really a shame, the table appears unused and was in great shape. They left the dust cover installed and the platter placed on top of it, yep! The cover snapped at the hinges, moved forward and pulled the speed sensor out by the screws. Bent the finger grip on the hs and knocked the cap off the 45/33 It can be repaired and there isn’t any permanent damaged or scaring to anything but should’ve been avoided.

I can finally “join” this group. I’ve had my L sitting in my office and garage for the past year or so as it wouldn’t fit in our old entertainment center. I convinced my wife to let me build a new stand and here we are!!
One issue I’m running into with the auto lifter. When the end of the record is reached the tonearm is lifted off the record properly, but then is set back down on the record. Guessing I don’t have the lifter set correctly, but can somebody chime in on how to properly adjust it? I’m having a hard time finding any instructions.
