Worst cover ever?

This has to be the worst collection

whaaaaat? LOL. I must get my hands on that album. It has to be so bad it comes back around the scale to good. Shatner's works are all like that, so bad they are masterpieces of poor taste.

Rocky Mountain Way as done by Godsmack is pretty terrible. Simple Man by Shinedown also does nothing for me.

Nouvelle Vague's bossa nova cover of Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart."

It fill's me with a murderous intent.

I agree. All of Nouvelle Vague's work makes me gag a little. It's almost good, and sometimes interesting, but never satisfying or enjoyable.

I haven't felt murderous, but we all have different tastes.

Limp Bizkit covering the Who's "Behind Blue Eyes". My nephew thought that they wrote the song, and played it to me......I let 'em have it!! Seriously???
I can hear Keith Moon laughing from the grave, what and absolute pile of crap.....

Metallica covering Bob Seger's Turn the Page.....seriously?? Seriously???

I was listening to Dick Clarks rock roll and remember around Christmas time and they played a James Brown cover of Silent Night I believe.I was awful.Worst cover I ever heard.

Eric Clapton - I Shot the Sheriff. Really, EC?

That Pat Boone thing's a fake, right????

(Edit - I see that it isn't via the google..... I still hold to my nomination. However, I did learn this from the wiki on the PB album -

"In October of the same year, and in a similar vein, Steve Lawrence and Eydie Gormé covered Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun" in a lounge-jazz style on the 1997 compilation album release, Lounge-A-Palooza. ")

And one of the best - a two for one deal - http://youtu.be/KTCYLbFxTpI

The Specials did a cover of "Take 5" in 4/4 time. Never made sense to me at all.

The Nice and Emerson, Lake and Palmer did the same with "Blue Rondo Ala Turk" and renamed it "Rondo", but that is actually a decent cover despite the fact that Keith Emerson took credit for writing it when it is actually a different arrangement.

OH....not that type of cover.

oops.[/QUOTE]

That was the general idea I had, too....

Luckily, for me at least, I didn't have any images spring to mind, but you.... You found a truly horrendous cover.

Now, how do I clear it from my memory?

So cheesy and left-field, I love it.

Madonna butchering "American Pie"
Celine Dion screeching "You Shook Me All Night Long"
Hillary Duff cooing "My Generation"
Macy Gray stumbling through "Walk This Way"
Britney Spears just "Can't Get No Satisfaction" (neither can we)
Smashmouth's "I'm A Believer" (we're still in disbelief)

Ha! All those were a "WTF" moment when I heard them, or of them.

I actually was double-damned as I heard, and saw Celine Dion perform that "You Shook Me All Night Long" cover. Slack-jawed, I was!

Ha! I really enjoy their odd takes on stuff. I don't take it seriously, and it almost always gives me a perverse laugh.

I was gonna' say Tiffany's cover of "I Think We're Alone Now", but that Pat Boone album has got to be the winner.

What I really-hated were the Merv Griffin type performances of various cover songs on talk shows. I think the worst was watching Toni Tennille cover ANYTHING. Even when she was doing a duet with another artist, it was still awful.

By the way, I LOVE the Shatner song... Absolutely-love it. And yes, I hated Metallica's "Turn The Page" as well. Still not the worst of all cover songs though. Not in poor-enough taste to take the win IMO.

It seems obvious that none of you have ever head Mrs Miller.

I take it back. This is the winner. Actually, it's so-cheesy that it has mucho comedic value, which might knock it out of the top spot (at least as far as poor taste covers go). This one's hilarious, and I enjoy listening to it, but most of the others named in this thread are just plain BAD with no redeeming qualities whatsover.
